Nottingham Forest won the 1979-80 UEFA Champions League, then known as the European Cup.
This was the second successive season that the East Midlands club had won the competition and the fourth of six in a row by English clubs, with Liverpool winning the two prior to Forest’s victories.
Nottingham Forest beat Hamburger SV 1-0 in the final in front of 51,000 spectators at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid, Spain. As a result, Nottingham Forest are the only club to have won the Champions League on more occasions (2) than they have won their own domestic league (1).
