Who were the first English team to win a European trophy?

Tottenham Hotspur were the first English team to win a European tournament organised by UEFA.

The North London club accomplished this feat when they defeated Atlético Madrid 5-1 in the 1963 Cup Winners’ Cup final at De Kuip in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Two years later West Ham United became the second English club to win a European tournament organised by UEFA, also winning the Cup Winners’ Cup, beating 1860 Munich of West Germany in the 1965 final at Wembley Stadium in London, England.
