Manchester City’s Niall Quinn received the first red card in Premier League history during a 2-0 loss to Middlesbrough at Ayresome Park on Wednesday 19 August 1992.

Southampton full-back Micky Adams was sent off for Southampton in a 3-1 loss away to Queens Park Rangers an hour later on the same day.
