Who was Britain’s first black £1 million footballer?

Justin Fashanu was the first £1 million black British footballer.

The former forward was signed by Brian Clough’s Nottingham Forest for the seven-figure fee from Norwich City in August 1981.

Nottingham Forest had previously become the first club to sign a British footballer for £1 million when they did so by signing Trevor Francis from Birmingham City in February 1979.

Justin Fashanu scored just three goals in 32 league appearances for Forest before joining Notts County the following year.
