Who scored the first Premier League goal at Portman Road?

Gavin Johnson scored the first ever Premier League goal at Portman Town during Ipswich Town’s 1-1 draw against Aston Villa on the opening day of the inaugural season, Saturday 15 August 1992.

The Tractor Boys would draw six of their first seven games and unbeaten in their first eight games following the First Division’s rebranding that year.

Gavin Johnson’s goal against the Villans was Ipswich Town’s first ever Premier League goal, then known as the Premiership.
