Who hosted the 1978 World Cup?

Argentina hosted the 1978 FIFA World Cup between 1-25 June.

The South American nation were also hosts of the tournament and went on to win it, beating the Netherlands 3-1 after extra time in the final at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires.

It was the 11th edition of the tournament and the fourth time it had been hosted in South America (after 1930 in Uruguay, 1950 in Brazil and 1962 in Chile).
