Which European team was the first to win the World Cup?

Italy were the first European nation to win the FIFA World Cup when they did so in 1934.

It had been the second edition of the tournament after hosts Uruguay had won the inaugural competition in 1930.

Italy beat Czechoslovakia 2-1 in the final at the Stadio Nazionale PNF in Rome.
