The Premier League was formed on 20 February 1992 and consisted of 22 teams. The first season took place between 1992-93, kicking off on 15 August 1992.

Sheffield United’s Brian Deane scored the first-ever goal in the Premier League era during a 2-1 win over Manchester United.
