When did the Premiership change to Premier League?

The name of the English top flight changed from the Premiership to the Premier League from the 2007-08 campaign.

The Premiership had originally formed in February 1992 as a breakaway from the First Division, with the inaugural weekend of the 1992-93 season taking place on Saturday 15 August.

Leeds United were the final winners of the old First Division in 1992, whilst Manchester United were the first winners of the Premiership in 1993. Manchester United were also the first winners of the Premier League in 2008.
