What teams have won the Champions League?

There have been 22 different winners of the UEFA Champions League.

The Champions League dates back to the 1955-56 season, when 16 teams, all champions of their league competed in the tournament. The competition was originally known as the European Cup and this name lasted until 1992-93 when the competition was renamed to what we all know it as today.

For the 1997-98 tournament, the runners-up of eight domestic leagues entered into the competition for the first time. Previously, only domestic champions and defending champions of the trophy entered.
